Monday, September 19th the Austin American Statesman announced that Amazon will be growing their Domain office, hiring 100 additional Austin workers. Since opening in 2015 the Domain office has doubled its staff to 350 employees. The staffing addition will continue to build Amazon’s online presence.

Amazon’s growth in Austin affirms my belief that Austin is a great place to both live and work. Our superior labor force and focus on innovation, as well as the determination to be the “Silicon Hills”, make the heads of major organizations look to Austin for their technology advancement and growth initiatives.

Amazon is pleased with their expansion into Austin according to Terry Leeper, general manager of Amazon Austin. They see the potential of the Austin technology talent pool, and will continue growth in the area. The Domain is Amazon’s largest corporate presence in Texas today. Amazon also has a presence in Dallas, and has recently built a fulfillment center in San Marcos, TX and is set to hire 1,000 employees. With this growth the Statesman says that the total staff count could be as large as 4,000 in Texas.
